Good philosophically but not worth the price of admission

I was excited to get into and use this training. I fully subscribe to the gentle and loving method of training as opposed to instilling fear of being yanked, shocked, etc. if the dog doesn't behave. There are some great clips in the video portions, for instance, the "leave it" command. But through most of it, the video does not deal directly with the topic. Example: "Jumping up" is not dealt with in the video segment of that title. What's dealt with is rushing the door. Sit/stay is not dealt with in the video of that topic. Instead, impulse control is shown in a quick 2 minute clip of Chet witholding his puppy's food until she sits down and waits for him to set it on the ground. There is notiong at all directly dealing with how to get a dog to sit, and stay. OK, fine, tangentially, the video relates to the discipline needed for a dog to sit and stay, but is isn't what you are looking for and want video training on when you open the section. Frustrated, you search every bit of the training content for anything related to sit/stay, but you find nothing more at all about dealing with the topic you want. So....you go ask a question in the Q&A section - being sure to first search that section for your particular question in case someone has asked it before. When you don't find what you're looking for, and you post your question, a "staff dog training expert" replies to you with a cryptic one line answer, and then refers you to the handsofftraining.com blog website, instructing you to look for additional information on your topic there. So....you go there, and you get to read entries and responses on the topic in hopes that they will somehow collectively address your specific issues. It is essentially a user forum with written tips from trainers.

Why not just do a web search for dog training tips on specific things you want to train your dog to do, or not do? It would be just as fast, easily as effective, and it wouldn't cost you a dime.

This training program is a great opportunity wasted, but it sure must pull enough saps (like me) into buying it to sustain enough income so Chet doesn't feel compelled to make a more thorough and quality product.

Looks like BS to me
posted this review on February 17, 2015

I first looked at this product about a month ago, and have been getting emails from him ever since.  At the time I looked at it he said that the "Special Deal" was only good for a very limited time, so hurry up and order.  Now, a month later, I decided to give it a try, and lo and behold the special deal is still only good for a limited time so hurry up and order.  That was my first sniff of BS.

So I went ahead and entered my credit card and shipping information, and after submitting the purchase I was presented with another screen trying to sell me something else that should have been included in my $70 purchase.  After clicking "No Thanks", I was presented with another screen trying to sell me another add-on that should have been included in the program.  That's when I realized that this guy is just a sleazy sales person trying to grab as much money as possible.

I'm not sure if this program is good or not,  I sure would have been able to try it, but I have an aversion to BS sales techniques.

Revolutionized the way I look at dog training
posted this review on July 27, 2014

Hands Off Dog Training by Chet Womach revolutionized the way I look at dogs and training. I love my dogs! I have 4 of them and I trained them all myself. I used to think that dogs can only be trained by professional dog trainers, but with Chet’s help, I learned that it’s not that difficult to train them especially if they’re you’re dogs and you clearly understand each other. It’s sometimes even easier because they trust you wholeheartedly. I didn’t have enough money to have all four of them trained, so I invested what little I have on Chet’s program and I didn’t regret it one bit. Chet’s program has been amazing, and my dogs are very well trained now. They’re happy and behaved dogs that are a pleasure to be around. My friends totally enjoy playing with my dogs and my house rarely gets messy because of them. They’re classy dogs and I’m proud of walking all 5 of them in the morning and having neighbors marvel at how well-behaved they are. I’ve already gotten some dog lover friends interested in my dog training service. Hahahaha! I’m so happy that Hands Off Dog Training is around! If not for this, I would have resorted to more extreme measures that would have traumatized my little ones!

I'm looking forward to training more dogs

This is a very practical dog training method for those who have little to no experience yet in dog training. I have successfully trained two dogs in a month using the methods here. It’s been so fun that I’m actually looking forward to training more doggies in the future.

This is easy enough for beginners
posted this review on July 17, 2013

Hands Off Dog Training is great because it’s easy enough for beginners, yet it’s so fun for dogs. My doggie, Chira, enjoyed every minute of our training. I enjoyed it so much too. The idea here is to successfully train your dog without using punishment. It’s like treating your dog like a child. Chira used to be out of control. She used to dig up the lawn, gnaw slippers, pee wherever she likes, jump on people, and just basically misbehave as much as she likes. After our Hands Off Dog Training program, she’s become such a darling. She’s very easy to control now. She listens to the word “no” now. Before, she’d just look at me for a few seconds and continue what she was doing. Now, she’d stop doing it the moment I say no. My friends don’t hate her anymore because she’s stopped jumping on them, and ruining their Sunday dresses! If you’re planning to train your pooch, this is something I’d definitely recommend.

It's good because I don't have to hurt my dog
Penny G. (from Trion, USA) posted this review on May 12, 2013

My dog is 2 years old, and it’s just now that I decided to train her. I was a fulltime employee before, so I didn’t have time. Now I’m a freelancer, so I got plenty of time to spend with him. He’s always known the basics like “come” and “sit” but I wanted him to learn how to be more comfortable around strangers. He gets anxious around other people, he also barks too much. Right now, it has lessened, and I can already get him to calm down when I tell him too. I’ve also learned how to make him pee on command. We’re working on that now. I like this training program because I don’t have to hit him or punish him. I’m against that so getting a chance to train my dog without being a monster mom is the best option for me.

Quite a hit in our small community of dog lovers
Erwin Buck (from Church Creek, USA) posted this review on April 27, 2013

This complete DVD package is quite impressive. I didn’t think I’d be able to train our beagle, but he’s well-trained now. He’s become more obedient. He doesn’t bark incessantly anymore, and he doesn’t nibble on stuff anymore. These are basic, but they help a lot in keeping peace in the house. My girlfriend almost had him thrown out. We’ve argued a lot about my dog’s behavior because she’s not into dogs, particularly silly, notorious ones like mine. I always tell her that the dog got her first. Hahahaha! Anyway, I’m not really taking his training any further. As long as he stays the good guy he is now, I’m a happy master.

This is highly recommended for all dog owners. It will be easier. I have other friends who are also dog owners and we’re all on the same page with this one.

This is a very smart dog training program

It’s my first time getting a dog, and I was really excited to train him. We didn’t have much space in the old home I shared with my parents, but I have now, so I got a lab, and he’s really sweet and fun. I wanted to teach him all those simple things that other dogs know like sit and down. I thought it was that simple. I tried doing it on my own, but it didn’t work. He did learn sit after a month of training, so I figured out I’m probably doing something wrong. My dog’s temperament is ok, but he’s just too out of control. He gets excited over little thing and runs and barks too loudly. The neighbor once complained that my dog is too loud.

Hands Off Dog Training was recommended to me by another neighbor. We’ve been exchanging dog stories since I got Ben, and she said this is where she learned how to train her dog. I’m now very much impressed with Mr. Womack because his training style is awesome. I compared it to the one I previously got (a free download), and it’s really different. Ben responds better to this training style. He isn’t too hard headed anymore. And I didn’t have to buy any equipment for the training. It’s called “hands off” because you won’t have to hurt your dog or punish him. It’s more of a reward system, instead of a punishment one. Ben is so well-behaved now that I love him a lot more!

Our dog is already more obedient now
Jacqueline Perez (from Kasota, USA) posted this review on April 8, 2013

I like this because it doesn’t use hurting or punishment for training. It was a little difficult for me to understand before, but I get everything better now. My brother and I are training our beagle. Right now he’s on basic obedience training and he’s learning really fast. Our mom and dad are so happy that he’s becoming more behaved now. I really think Hands Off Dog Training is very good for basic training, but not for tricks and things like that. You need to have a more advanced training program for that.

It was a learning experience for Larry and I!
Gina Fraser (from Dummerston, USA) posted this review on January 27, 2013

Chet’s methods in Hands Off Dog Training didn’t just help me train my dog, they also gave me awesome bonding moments with him. My dog is a poodle named Larry, and he’s a very sweet and smart dog. I didn’t know how to train him then so I got this. Larry picked up everything so quickly, and I didn’t have to use harsh methods on him. We also have fun while I’m training him. I make sure to give him his favorite treats at the right time, so he gets what I want him to do. Through this training, I loved him more, and I’m sure he appreciated and loved me more too as his mommy. Hands Off Dog Training has a lot of smart techniques that will really make learning easy for you and your dog. I even find them therapeutic at times. When I get really stressed I just go train with Larry and that makes my day better. It’s like teaching a toddler how to do things on his own. I love this training methods, and I think all dog owners should use this instead of using spiked collars and other harsh methods that hurt their dogs. Learning should be a bonding moment for owners and their dogs, and that’s what Hands Off Dog Training aims to achieve. I’d like to thank Chet for not being selfish and for sharing everything he knows for other dog lovers in here.

I've trained 3 dogs using this
posted this review on December 30, 2012

Hands Off Dog Training features the most effective way to train your dog. I’ve 3 dogs that I trained using this method, and they all learned pretty quickly. I don’t have any formal dog training lessons or classes, but I got to learn so much from this so it’s enough.

The training system is genius!
posted this review on November 18, 2012

This is a genius training system! My two dogs, Jack and Sally, learned pretty quickly because of this. I’ve been trying to train them using the free dog training methods I see on YouTube and other sites, but those methods disn’t work at all. They’re a total waste of time. I regret even trying them. With Chet’s training program, they learned basic obedience and commands in just 1 month. I didn’t have to hurt them at all. I read a training manual before that said hitting the dog from time to time is ok to help him understand everything faster. I’m glad I didn’t believe in that. 1 month of daily practice is fast enough for me. They’ve learned a lot! In fact, my friends are so entertained watching them do as I tell them, and I rarely get problems with them gnawing on shoes and wires anymore. This is a real dog training system that’s gonna save you and your dog a lot of trouble in the long run.

Fast results!

I like the program. I don’t regret buying it at all. Got done with basic obedience in just a week, and now moving on to more advanced commands. My dog’s a poodle, and I think they’re naturally smarter than other dogs, that must have helped. But the program is also a big help so I’m giving it a good rating for being effective and for using positive reinforcement.

It's fun training dogs Chet's way!
Sandra Darwins (from Harwood, USA) posted this review on November 7, 2012

I’ve known Chet from my early days of researching online for pet care ideas. I started taking care of dogs 3 years ago, and Chet has been one of the regular faces I see online when it comes to pet care and dog training articles. I think he’s got a lot. I also see that he’s involved with other animals as well, and not just limited to dogs.

I have 5 dogs now, and I wanted them trained for different skills and commands, but getting them all trained will cost serious money, so I picked up the interest in learning how to train them. I watched YouTube videos, and read articles online, but there wasn’t a single resource I could get for free that teaches complete dog training. Most of them are just previews, so I was convinced to buy. I chose Chet’s work because as I’ve said, I already read a lot about him when I was just getting started with dogs. And I was right for choosing his program.

Chet’s dog training DVDs are very easy to follow. They’re fun for the trainer as well as for the dog because it uses positive reinforcement. The techniques are also very effective. In a matter of days, I already saw some improvements in my dogs. I’ve already trained the 2 younger ones basic obedience and manners. The older ones I will be teaching after I’m done with these two. I didn’t know it was this fun to train dogs!

Confusing at first... but effective
posted this review on November 3, 2012

Unlike others, the program was confusing to me at first. Other dog owners seem to have no problem understanding it, so it might just be me. I had to read and try over and over again before I got my dog to listen and respond, but after that it went smoothly.

I like that this program covers the most important skills that dogs should learn. It also has all the commands I wanted my dog to obey, and my dog obeys them now. My problem with my dog before is that he’s unresponsive. I got him from the shelter at 3 years old, so that’s most likely why he’s not the cheerful, sweet dog others are. He’s mostly quiet, and that’s fine with me. My problem was that he didn’t communicate. Through this training, he became more responsive. He comes to me when I call him, he’s less of a pain to walk with, and we also got closer during training, so he’s a bit more lively now when it’s just the two of us. He’s still uncomfy with strangers, but we’re working on that now, also using this program.

Don't make the mistake I made...
posted this review on October 31, 2012

I had my dog trained by a professional trainer before. After two weeks of being with him, he presented how my dog listens to every word he says. I was ecstatic that I paid my remaining balance and took my dog home. I left him there for two weeks, so I was really excited to spend time with him and play the way we used to before I had him trained. The problem is that I noticed differences in behavior, especially with my friends who used to pet him all the time before he went away. He seemed scared of humans for some reason, and he whimpers or growls at the sight of people he doesn’t know. My friend, who’s also into dogs, told me that the trainer might have used negative reinforcement on him causing him to have those fears he didn’t have before. I was so furious I wanted to pour acid on that trainer’s thick face.

When he recovered, I realized he hasn’t really learned that much from his training before, so I got this workout program. I got both the DVDs and the manuals because I think they come in a package. I’m training her basic obedience right now. She’s learning so quickly even if I don’t punish her or shout at her. I just use treats to reward her for obedience, and now she doesn’t pull on her leash anymore, and she doesn’t soil furniture anymore. The DVD is very easy to follow, but I’m not a fan of the printed manual as it can get difficult to understand.

Smart training ideas

The training ideas are great. I’ve been accustomed to using spiked collars for training before, but now I’m shifting to positive reinforcement and this is a good start for me.

Helped us fix our dog's behavior issues easily
Lovey Paz (from York, USA) posted this review on October 27, 2012

My primary reason for buying this program is my dog’s behavior. He’d be too scared of strangers, bark too much even at my friends, and be too difficult when I need to go to the office. There are also times when he’s aggressive to other people and dogs when I take him out for a walk. He’s a mongrel I got from the shelter at 2 years old, so that’s probably why it became so hard to fix his behavior problems. Other than that, I’ve no problems about him. When it’s just the two of us and my son, he’s very sweet, and he seems like the perfect dog. He only changes when strangers come in.

My son and I got this dog training program, and we alternated on training him. It was difficult for me at first, but my son found it very easy to follow. In 3 weeks of training, my dog started acting better around strangers, and he became more relaxed even if I’m about to leave the house. The best part is that we didn’t have to punish him at all. He seemed to enjoy training so much.

Now my son’s moved on to teaching him tricks. He’s quite smart really, and he’s already learned 3 tricks now. We’re still using this training program as we find it so effective. I’m highly recommending this to everyone.

I can't believe this is so cheap
posted this review on October 26, 2012

As soon as I found out that this program uses positive reinforcement, I got it right away. I wanted to train y dog that way but didn’t know how. There are seminars in dog training, but they cost too much. I can just send my dog straight to the trainer for that amount. It’s silly. Anyway, just wanna say that I loved the DVDs very much! They’re really easy to understand, the methods are effective, it’s affordable. It’s got basically everything you’d want from a training program. Even the bonuses are great. I can’t believe they’re selling it so cheap.

My dog and I just enjoy the training sessions so much
posted this review on October 22, 2012

I’m very happy that I downloaded this program before settling for a dog trainer. I’ve read and seen horror stories of dog trainers hurting them to force them to obey or to do tricks. I was scared of that. I was willing to spend, but I was scared the trainer might not treat my dog well. Justine, my retriever can be quite hard-headed, so I was scared the trainer will just hurt her. That’s why I wanted to train her on my own. I think if there’s one person she’ll listen to the most, that would be me. I don’t have any experience training animals before, so I had to do research before getting started with this. I couldn’t find any reliable information on the Internet, so I got this and I think I got more than my money’s worth. It’s very high-quality, easy to follow, and Justine and I just enjoys training sessions.

Works for all kinds of dogs
posted this review on October 21, 2012

I’m not surprised that there are so many people praising this course. I, for one, didn’t have any knowledge in training dogs. Yes, I’m a dog lover, but I haven’t had any experience training one. When I got a lab pup from my sis, I knew that there’s no turning back. I decided to start training him while still a pup because he’d probably learn faster that way just like in humans. What I love most about this is that it’s purely positive reinforcement and that it works for all dogs of different breeds, sizes, and ages. I’m sure you will start enjoying dog training once you get this You can even offer your services to others once you get the hang of it.

Buds and I finished the course sooner than expected
Celia Rover (from Jay, usa) posted this review on October 16, 2012

The basic dog obedience training from this course is a piece of cake for me and my dog, Buds. We finished it sooner than I expected even if I don’t have any experience in dog training at all. Buds is quite a naughty dog, so I expected it to be a little more challenging, but the techniques in the book really worked for him. I didn’t have to scratch my head thinking of what to do next because the course has got everything laid out step-by-step. I’m also already working on Buds’ other behavior problems now. He gets some from time to time probably because I’ve a tendency to spoil him. Soon after I get his behavior fixed, we’ll be advancing to tricks. I’m sure we’ll finish everything quick enough.

My son and I are using this training program
posted this review on October 15, 2012

This course is so easy to follow. My son and I train our Labrador on our own, and he wasn’t cooperative at first, but using the techniques in this program, we’re already getting him to respond. We’re not in favor of punishing pets when they don’t listen, so this is perfect for us. Our dog has already learned a few basic tricks. We couldn’t allot so much time for his training, but I’m sure the results will be faster for people who can spend a few hours everyday with their dogs.

Easy to follow and no punishment involved
posted this review on October 10, 2012

I don’t know how this one compares to other training programs on the internet because it’s the only one I’ve used, but this is very easy to follow. You won’t need previous dog training experience if you got this. Another plus is that it’s purely positive reinforcement. That’s actually what drew me in. The main reason why I wanted to train my dog on my own is that I’m scared the trainer might hurt him. He learned the tricks so quickly, and we just work a few hours twice a week because I’m very busy with work. He seems to enjoy it so much too!

Made training sessions mor like bonding opportunities
posted this review on October 7, 2012

Hands Off Dog Training is great! It uses positive reinforcement to help you and your dog enjoy the training session. Personally, I think this program has bonded me and my dog really well. Sasha is my first dog, and her training is also the first I’ve tried, but it went well. In fact in just a month, she’s mastered almost everything in the book. But I don’t know if that’s gonna work that quickly for other dogs too because Sasha is quite smart. The best thing about this is I don’t have to hurt her at all. I think this should be the only way to train dogs and other animals.

I saved a lot and bonded with my dogs

This is the perfect dog training resource for the average dog owner/ lover. I have three dogs, and I had the first one professionally trained. When I got my next 2 dogs from the shelter, I decided to try my hands on training them on my own to save money. I was overwhelmed with the tips and tricks I found online, and I knew I needed something that is more organized and that has a solid plan of action if I wanted to see results without getting too much headache. I’m glad this is what I chose to download. It’s very easy to understand and it doesn’t miss even the tiniest details. I love how both dogs responded to the training. It’s really wonderful because it’s based on positive reinforcement like rewarding. It’s perfect for me, and I’m sure other dog owners will love it too.

Clear and effective
Jessica M. (from Pompano Beach, USA) posted this review on August 10, 2012

I’m sure all dog owners know how difficult it is to train their pets. I have 3 dogs at home, and when I was living alone, it was fine, but when my boyfriend moved in, of course, I had to help him get adjusted to the dogs, and make the dogs more behaved so they don’t drive him crazy. He’s not used to having animals around, so making him stay in my house with all those pooches is a real challenge. We decided to train the dogs together. It’s partly to save money, since were’ saving up for our wedding, and partly to get him more accustomed to them.

This training program was the only one we used throughout the training period. The dogs surprisingly responded well even to my boyfriend. They in less than a month, they picked up everything we trained them for, including not begging for food, not getting on the couch, and not chewing on stuff like slippers. It’s really easy to use this program. Everything you need to do is detailed in it, so you won’t be left wondering what to do next. Even my boyfriend who’s had no previous experience with pets found this very easy to follow.

My lab and I liked it!
Mitch Summers (from Spokane, USA) posted this review on July 2, 2012

I immediately got interested in this program when I found out that it was Chet behind it. I have read a great deal about him as an animal trainer, and I know that he uses purely positive reinforcement for animals. Although I badly want to train my lab, Sunny, I do not want to have to yell at him or use spiky collars or do anything that might hurt him.

When I first got the package, I got confused since it has a lot of components. I did not know whether to start with the manuals or the DVDs first. I just decided to go through all the materials first before getting Sunny involved. Sunny and I are focusing on good house manners at the moment, and I am enjoying it. I feel like I am homeschooling my own child, and I am seeing him enjoy it too.

My suggestion for those who will buy the program is to read and watch everything first, so they will know exactly how to start and what to expect after each step.

I'm sick of reading numerous reviews that do not include:
1. Value for money
2. pos. or neg. experience in dealing with the company.
3. How easy or difficult product was to use.
4. How product compared with competitors' offerings.
5. LONG term results rather than first impressions.

The Hands Off dog training method may be excellent but the previous review did not answer any of the above points.

Total change in 5 days

My lab used to be very hyper, would constantly be running into the street, and digging holes in our yard. So we were so happy to see her totally change in a little over 5 days, with just a few training sessions throughout the day. Now I don't have to worry about her taking off into the street and getting seriously hurt. That peace of mind is priceless!
